Summary: "Worth the read"
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Cigars: I am still a complete idiot but now I know a LOT more about cigars and especially how to really enjoy them. The author takes you through just about any aspect of cigars a reasonable person would want to know. The biggest gains for me were in the details of how to evaluate cigars (before you buy) and of humidifying them once you get them home.
I enjoyed reading the book each evening as I sipped on a great stogie after dinner - sort of practicing the act of lighting, smoking and savoring that wonderful tobacco. If you're a complete idiot this book probably won't improve your intelligence but it will advance your knowledge of the art and pleasure of cigar smoking. Highly recommended.

I got this for my hubby when his interest in cigars grew. I wasn't sure how great this would be but thought it would be a good starter book. It exceeded my expectations though. It is a great book for cigar lovers.

Summary: "Great 'Gar Guide"
I've enjoyed cigars for several years and was curious to see if this book would prove interesting or useful. It turned out to be both.
There is some interesting history and information on how cigars are made. I never thought about it before, but a lot of hard work goes into making a fine cigar.
The part that was most useful to me was what to look for in a quality cigar and why these traits are important. I'd gotten to the point where most new cigars I tried didn't interest me, and I'd begun to stick to a select handful. Armed with the information Mr. Gage provides, I'm able to select new cigars that I'm more likely to enjoy.
Thanks for making an enjoyable pasttime more enjoyable!
